Jonathan C. Hughley has a wide-ranging intellectual property law practice, comprising patent prosecution, product clearance and legal opinions, counseling, and litigation. His experience has been split almost equally between patent prosecution and litigation, along with freedom-to-operate searches and related issues. Jon has also worked on international trademarking and trade secret litigation.
Jonathan has performed patent prosecution and investigation work for several global companies that are leaders in industries that include automotive components, food processing and packaging, consumer products, and irrigation systems. He has also been involved in litigation on behalf of a wide variety of regional, national and international companies including Bridgetree, Inc., Deere & Company, and TK Holdings.
Prior to joining Fitch Even, Jonathan worked at International Truck & Engine Corporation and Caterpillar, Inc. While attending law school, he worked as a Commercialization Analyst for the University of Illinois’s Office of Technology Management, where he identified, marketed, and licensed intellectual property developed by research on campus. Jonathan also worked at the University of Illinois College of Law Patent Clinic, conducting prior art research and assisting IP clients with patent applications and other matters.
Assisted in successful representation of an international information technology company in an action for trade secret misappropriation.
Assisted a Fortune 500 company in determining whether it was free to sell its product in view of competitors’ intellectual property.
