Fitch Even Elects New Partners

Fitch, Even, Tabin & Flannery LLP is pleased to announce that Paul B. Henkelmann, Nicole L. Little, Alisa C. Simmons, and Jonathan H. Urbanek have been elected partners and Amanda Lowerre O’Donnell has been made an equity partner of the firm. All are based in our Chicago office.

Paul B. Henkelmann represents clients in patent post-issuance proceedings, patent prosecution, patent and trademark litigation, and patent portfolio management, in the U.S. and abroad. He has experience working with a wide range of technologies including medical devices, automotive systems, electronics, industrial machinery, and packaging. Prior to pursuing a legal career, Paul was a project engineer for an original equipment manufacturer in the printing industry, where he was responsible for designing, developing, and testing a diverse line of automated process control equipment. He earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating with honors, and holds a B.S. in General Engineering with a minor in German from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Nicole L. Little focuses her practice primarily on patent litigation, participating in cases involving product applications including stored value cards, garage door openers, industrial equipment, tools, and computer software applications. In addition, Nikki has notable experience in patent prosecution and clearance and opinion work. She also counsels clients on the IP issues that arise in corporate advertising, marketing, and promotions, including those involving a broad spectrum of advertising agreements, advertising and labeling claims, and legal compliance with federal and state requirements. Nikki is a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law and earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

Amanda Lowerre O’Donnell has over a decade of intellectual property law experience, representing clients in patent prosecution, patent licensing, commercial clearance assessments, and patent portfolio management. Amanda counsels clients in the U.S. and abroad working in a variety of technical fields and product applications, including electronic components, energy and renewable energy applications, food processing, packaging technology, and medical devices. In addition, she regularly advises clients on business method protections and open-source software issues. Amanda graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School and earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, from St. Louis University.

Alisa C. Simmons focuses her practice primarily on U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, trademark litigation, and brand selection. She also provides counsel on copyright registration and enforcement, advertising review and claims, product packaging, and sweepstakes and promotions. In addition, Alisa has extensive experience handling matters involving unfair competition and domain name counseling and dispute resolution. Her clients range from hotels, universities, retailers, and charitable organizations to manufacturers of consumer products, software, food and healthcare products. Alisa is active in a number of professional and service organizations, and currently serves as President of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago. Alisa earned her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and holds a B.A. in Biology from Indiana University.

Jonathan H. Urbanek focuses his practice on preparation and prosecution of patent applications, advising clients on the development and protection of a strong patent portfolio and other IP-related issues. Jon provides counsel on freedom-to-operate decisions, product design-arounds, competitive technology analysis, and other issues that support an effective patent strategy. He has notable experience working with diverse technologies and applications including medical devices, irrigation, mining, power systems, earth-moving equipment, packaging, food processing, communications equipment, e-commerce, computer systems, electro-mechanical devices, and manufacturing. Jon is a graduate of DePaul University College of Law and earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
