On March 26, 2008, Partner Steve Parmelee will present a webinar entitled "The Rising Tide of Fanciful Patent Claim Language Interpretation by Examiners - Tools and Techniques to Avoid Ambiguity and Ensure Intended Meaning." Mr. Parmelee will explore the development of claim language interpretations by U.S. patent examiners and a present trend toward the use of broad interpretations in rejecting patent claims based on prior art references. Mr. Parmelee also will discuss his observations and practice tips to help practitioners address these issues when drafting new patent applications and prosecuting previously filed applications.
