Fitch Even Patent Seminar Draws Strong Interest at AIPPI Meeting in Tokyo

March 31, 2009

Fitch Even partners Steve Favakeh and Tim Maloney presented a half-day seminar entitled Important Trends in Obtaining & Enforcing U.S. Patent Rights sponsored by the Japan Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) on March 31, 2009 in Tokyo. The seminar was well-received by an audience of over 100 Japanese patent professionals, including representatives of approximately 40 law firms, 35 corporations, and the Japanese Patent Office.

The opening remarks of Mr. Keisuke Shimizu, Director General of the Japanese Group of AIPPI, and Mr. Goro Umeda, Managing Director & Secretary General of the organization, confirmed the intense interest in the U.S. patent system amongst Japanese businesses, institutions, and legal professionals. In their presentation, Mr. Favakeh and Mr. Maloney focused on timely topics regarding patent prosecution and patent litigation in the United States and provided related practical observations and insights drawing from Fitch Even’s own experiences in these areas. A lively question and answer session followed.

Fitch Even extends its gratitude to the Japan Group of AIPPI for organizing this event and to the intellectual property community at large in the city of Toyko for its tremendous interest and support.
