Margaret A. “Peggy” Herrmann is a registered patent attorney whose intellectual property law practice currently encompasses patent preparation and prosecution, IP litigation, patent post-issuance proceedings, and product clearance and legal opinions. She has worked with clients engaged in diverse areas including food science, food packaging, medical devices, rail transportation, automotive braking systems, building materials, personal mobility devices, and semiconductors.
Peggy also has experience in conducting advertising clearance and drafting office action responses for trademark prosecution. She served as a member of a litigation team enforcing copyrights for an independent author.
While attending Chicago-Kent College of Law, Peggy served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Ann Claire Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Peggy was also a supervising manager and volunteer at the Self-Help Web Center at the Cook County Circuit Court for nearly three years. There she assisted pro se litigants with writing and filing motions, complaints, and fee waivers, while training and supervising other volunteers as well. In addition, Peggy served as a volunteer law clerk at the Chicago-Kent Patent Hub, assisting attorneys in providing pro bono patent prosecution services to under-resourced inventors.
Prior to law school, Peggy worked as a paralegal at a Chicago-area law firm for four years, drafting settlement agreements and discovery responses and conducting legal research and analysis, among other responsibilities.
