Timothy E. Levstik guided Fitch Even for several years as Managing Partner. A seasoned lawyer, his practice entailed all aspects of intellectual property, with a focus on complex patent prosecution, post-patent issuance procedures including reissue applications and reexamination applications, and opinions concerning patent infringement and patent validity. Tim also had an active international patent practice.
For over 35 years, clients sought Tim’s patent counsel and experience across a wide variety of disciplines including these, among others:
Tim’s patent experience in chemical technology includes polymers, resins for paint coatings, conversion coatings, catalysts, food chemistry, inorganic chemistry, paper chemistry, and specialty chemicals such as oxidizers. While an undergraduate at Case Institute of Technology, Tim received two National Science Foundation Grants for work on the synthesis of organosilicon polymers from silicate minerals.
Tim maintained an active docket of patent prosecution for several of the firm's clients. He was frequently called on to develop patent policies consistent with a client's business goals and to guide clients through prosecutions of complex patent families, reissue of patents in those families in contemplation of litigation, ex parte reexamination, inter partes review and post-grant review, as well as due diligence reviews as a part of IP transactions.
In addition to his patent work, Tim was involved in the firm's litigation matters from 1980 until his retirement. He was an active participant in the trial of cases involving patents and trade secrets.
