Fitch Even partner Kendrew H. Colton has been appointed to the Advisory Board for Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN) for a three-year term, from 2012 to 2014. C&EN is a weekly magazine published by the American Chemical Society for its 163,000 members, with editors and reporters based in Europe, the U.S., and Asia covering science and technology, business and industry, government and policy, education, and employment aspects of the chemistry field.
Mr. Colton has extensive intellectual property counseling and litigation experience involving patent infringement, contract licensing disputes, copyrights, unfair competition, and trade secrets. His practice specialty is designing strategies to achieve market exclusivity and freedom to operate for clients in established and emerging chemical and biochemical technologies. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Chemistry and the Law Division (CHAL) of the American Chemical Society.

Today, in United States Patent and Trademark Office et al. v. Booking.com, the Supreme Court held that a generic word can be granted trademark protection when it is part of a ".com" domain name, ruling in favor of Booking.com in its petition to trademark its name. Read more
