Alvaro Cure Dominguez focuses his law practice on patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation and on PTAB patent invalidity proceedings. Alvaro also advises clients on patent clearance and freedom to operate opinions and with intellectual property portfolio development and analysis. Alvaro works with patent owners in telecommunications, home design, vaporizer (e-cigarettes), cosmetics, and fleet management technologies.
Prior to attending law school, Alvaro worked at a Forbes 500 multinational in the cosmetics and personal care industry under a specialist role doing patent clearance work, working with inventors, and collaborating with counsel to evaluate risks and opportunities.
As a student at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Alvaro was enrolled in the school’s Supreme Court Clinic, where he assisted the clinic and practitioners with drafting petitioner, respondent, and amici briefs to the Court and participated in moot courts to help prepare practitioners arguing in front of the Court. One of Alvaro’s notes was selected for publication in Northwestern’s Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property and won the Lowden-Wigmore Award for the journal’s best student-written contribution that academic year.
Drafts briefs, complaints, and answers in support of patent cases in U.S. District Courts.
Formulates patent infringement claim charts for patents in fleet management and vaporizer technology.
Reviews patent literature for clearance of new products in the food, cosmetics, and home security space.
Assists clients with developing and implementing trade secret policies.
Advises on trademark opposition proceedings and likelihood-of-confusion analyses between existing trademarks and applicants’ proposed trademarks.
