Joe was appointed Chair of the ISBA Intellectual Property Section Council, on which he has served in various leadership roles over the years. He was also reappointed to the Committee on the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC), a committee that works to solidify the relationship between the ISBA and ARDC, provides information to the legal community on attorney's professional and ethical duties, and reviews and makes recommendations to the ARDC and the Supreme Court of Illinois regarding the attorney disciplinary system.
Having led Fitch Even's Trademark and Copyright practice group since 1989, Joe has extensive experience in domestic and international trademark prosecution, as well as litigation. In addition, he counsels clients on brand development strategies, including securing trademark rights throughout the world, and assists with the enforcement and protection of rights developed under the copyright laws of all international jurisdictions.

Dropbox, Inc., the Federal Circuit affirmed that certain of Synchronoss's claims were invalid for indefiniteness, since the claims included a means-plus-function claim term that did not have adequate structural support in the specification.
