On November 7, 2014, Fitch Even partner Joseph T. Nabor moderated a trademark litigation program during the annual Federation Internationale Des Consels en Propriete Intellectuelle (FICPI) Open Forum in Barcelona, Spain.
The program, “Mock Trial of the Future,” featured a case set in 2022 involving 3-D printing and the issues it reportedly raised in IP law enforcement, as well as the effects of online sales on jurisdictional boundaries. Through the presentation of this mock trial, the panelists provided a look at how the future IP landscape might appear and how IP laws could adapt.
Founded in 1906, FICPI is the only international non-governmental organization whose membership consists exclusively of IP attorneys in private practice. Its principal goals include standing up for the public interest in developing and maintaining a strong IP profession throughout the world, so that all people have access to skilled IP advisers in their own countries.
