Law Student Opportunities

Green Leaf

Fitch Even is committed to growing our firm from within. We seek bright and energetic law students with strong technical backgrounds who are committed to leveraging their knowledge of the sciences and engineering through the practice of intellectual property law.

Summer associates and law clerks work closely with our attorneys on a wide range of substantive IP work for our clients. Typical assignments include drafting patent and trademark applications, preparing responses to office actions, researching and writing litigation briefs, and supporting and attending depositions and court proceedings.

In addition to receiving one-on-one mentoring on projects, summer associates and law clerks are exposed to a variety of intellectual property topics through internal seminars led by seasoned attorneys. Summer associates and law clerks have ample opportunity to collaborate as well as socialize with partners and associates, providing first-hand experience of our firm culture.

Fitch Even seeks motivated 2L candidates for its 2025 Summer Associate program. The program will be based in the Chicago office, but other offices may be considered in special circumstances. Candidates should have outstanding academic credentials in both undergraduate and law school, and a demonstrated interest in IP, including an undergraduate degree that makes the candidate eligible to sit for the Patent Bar.

If you are interested in our Summer Associate Program, you may email your cover letter, resume, technical writing sample, and law school and undergraduate transcripts to Altinase Thomas, HR Director, at employment@fitcheven.com.

Fitch, Even, Tabin & Flannery LLP is firmly committed to equal employment opportunity hiring practices. All candidates receive consideration without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, physical and mental disability, genetic information, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. All applications will be treated confidentially.

“Working as a summer associate at Fitch Even during the pandemic was seamless. Each and every person at the firm was willing to assist me at every turn, no matter the situation. I look forward to starting my careers at such a friendly and inclusive firm.”
