Please join Fitch Even for a free webinar, “Navigating Legal Ethics with Generative AI: From Prompts to Practice,” on Thursday, August 14, at 9:00 a.m. PDT / 10:00 a.m. MDT / 11:00 a.m. CDT / 12 Noon EDT.
Generative AI (GAI) is a subfield of AI that creates original content, including text, images, videos, audio, software code, and more. Its use among lawyers is on the rise. As adoption grows, the legal landscape is shifting in response. But are we heading in the right direction? How can lawyers leverage GAI without challenging their ethical obligations?
Our presenters will explore how the ABA and the USPTO are guiding lawyers through a labyrinth of ethical considerations when using GAI in their practice. They will also discuss trends among federal judges on the use of GAI in courtrooms, and review recent court opinions highlighting the pitfalls of impulsively using GAI.
Our presenters will examine the following opinions, guidance, and more:
- The ABA’s Formal Opinion 512 on lawyers’ ethical obligations under the Model Rules of Professional Conduct when using GAI tools
- The USPTO’s Guidance on Use of Artificial Intelligence-Based Tools in Practice Before the USPTO
- Trends from the judges of the federal judiciary
Our speakers will be Fitch Even attorneys Mary F. Fetsco and Christopher W. Paulson.
