Richard E. Wawrzyniak’s practice focus is on patent preparation, prosecution, and strategy for high-technology companies, assisting clients in the development, protection, and management of intellectual property rights in the electrical, software, Internet/e-commerce, and mechanical arts.
A variety of clients – ranging in size from startup companies to Fortune 500 corporations – rely on Rich for IP counsel in the electrical and software areas, most recently in the communications, networking, semiconductor, and video gaming spaces.
Rich has helped several startup companies develop and execute intellectual property strategies and then manage the patent portfolios that result. He has also been involved in patent litigation and has performed patent analysis and opinion work for licensing and other transactional matters.
His practical experience with IP began during college, when Rich worked as a student engineer with McDonnell Douglas Corporation. While in law school, he served as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Missouri Law Review. After law school, Rich practiced patent law in the Bay Area for over eight years, preparing and prosecuting numerous domestic and international patent applications for Silicon Valley companies.
