Fitch Even partner Joseph E. Shipley will be a speaker at the Practising Law Institute (PLI) seminar "Patent Litigation 2011" on October 13, 2011, at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center in Chicago.
Mr. Shipley will co-present a session on Parallel Patent Reexaminations, discussing factors to consider when deciding whether to seek reexamination of patents. In addition, this session will outline the effects of a reexamination proceeding on litigation, including stays, collateral estoppel effects, and intervening rights. Mr. Shipley and his copresenter will also explain USPTO procedures for ex parte and inter partes reexamination. MCLE credit will be available to program participants.
